As I sit holding Mana Khemia in my hands, I feel bittersweet. I think I've reached the end of my journey. I can't help but feel like it's finally over.
It's hard to believe it's been six years since I've picked up my very own PlayStation 2. I've gone through a great ride with this console from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 to Mana Khemia, and in terms of video game love...it's my second love to my darling Super Nintendo. While I'm aware there are still a few games on the horizon, not even Ar Tonelico 2 and Persona 4 catch my interest...so I think it's time to move forward and move on. With the purchase of Mana Khemia, my PlayStation 2 library is officially complete.
And though I'm sure I'll pick up a few games between now and the end of time...as a whole, the importance of the PlayStation 2 to my every day gaming will reach its conclusion upon the conclusion of Mana Khemia. I will have officially moved on to the next generation. I doubt I'll ever have a library I'm so pleased with again. It was truly the height of my gaming and I hope I can grow old with my PS2 library.
Thank you, PlayStation 2. You've become a relic in my eyes...but you'll still be eternal. Take a bit of time to wax poetic about the PlayStation 2. Let us know where it began and how it ended. Or maybe it's still going strong? How will you remember the system? Will it still be hooked up alongside your next generation machines? I know mine will.

PS2 outsold the PS3 a few months ago. It's still going VERY strong. Rock Band hasn't released any numbers but it might have outsold it on the PS2 version. Same with GH3. With 120 million units & over 4,000 titles available and newer console versions coming out every year it's going to be in homes for still many years to come. Rent a beach house in the summertime and chances are they'll have a PS2. Everyone I've been too has had a slim PS2 in it. I still play the Guitar Hero 1 and 80's on it. Yeah, the Playstation 2 is still a big seller both in the United States and abroad. Also, the earliest that they will stop making games for the thing is 2009, but even that's probably a little liberal. Oddly enough, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if the Playstation 2 saw a little bit of a push at the end of 2008 assuming that the economy doesn't start to pick up. The PS2 is a great value and the compilations they're releasing for it are pretty sweet for those people looking to get the most bang for their buck. (MGS1-3 for $30 and DMC1-3 for $30 is prety damn awesome) ....Although, I'm probably not one to talk about the future PS2 prospects. I actually sold my PS2 and almost all of my games so I could get a PS3 at launch.

Yeah, the PS2 will have a few movie based games and 3rd party ports to last the rest of the year. But but by September it'll be all over withthe release of Yakuza 2. Yeah, my last game is Yakuza 2. Until then, I'm not getting hardly any PS2 games.

The PS2 is definitely up there as one of my favorite consoles to date. It's hard to choose whether or not it surpasses the PS1 in terms of really good RPGs, but it all in all I'd probably sit those two consoles very close together as far as my favorite is concerned. Out of all my consoles, my PlayStation 2 has the largest library by a long shot. With over 100+ games I've been quite happy with it over the years and will always keep the ones I've kept up until now for the years to come. Of course the PS2 is not dead, nor dying, in my mind at all, however. As of now, the PS3 has been out nearing two years and I'm still playing my PlayStation 2 more than anything (more or less because I have some games to catch up on). Even so, I still have Persona 4 to look forward to very, very soon . The PS2 has to be my favorite console of all time since there were so many great games for it. My favorites are: -God of War 1&2 -Devil May Cry 1&3 -Shadow of the Collossus -Onimusha 1&2 -Resident Evil 4 -Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City and San Andreas -Ratchet and Clank -Metal Gear Solid 2&3 The last game I bought for my ps2 was God of War II back in March of 07 and I dont think I'll be buying anymore ps2 games. The PS3 has now become the console of choice for me. By no means is the PS2 done since its still selling very well, however I think that by 2009 the PS2 will stop having games available for it. I still love the PS2 for what it offered me for so many years but for me its time to let it go. Message Edited by arya1369 on 06-10-2008 12:05 PM

sorry number way off. 2,400 titles and counting according to the underground email i got the other day, not 4,000. for example go over to Score Hero.com and look at the leaderboards. PS2 players dominate that site. I'm not so sure any console will ever touch those kinds of numbers ever again. It's the Thriller of the gaming world. Right place at the right time.
