Nice thread. Pity some of these games aren't available here in the US (Like RE1 and 2).

Hopefully one day they'll add more PS1 games to our store so that we no longer feel like the beaten red-haired stepchild whose family was slain by the Evil Overlord Ogres.

Ok, maybe that wasn't such a great analogy.

Yeah I know right? Resident Evil 1 & 2 would be so successful if the game would be made available in the U.S. PSN. Unfortunately, Sony of America doesn't see that despite their lame excuse as the reasons why.

Well I don't have to depend too much on the U.S. PC Playstation Network to play some of these great PSone classics thats already available in the far east regions. :smileywink:

And thanks for the Kudos. :smileyhappy:

Metal Slug X

File Size Required: 190 MB

Availabe in Japan's & Hong Kong's Playstation Network

Review by: Nov2rem

Sypnosis: The third sequel for the well-known "Metal Slug™" series of shooting action game. With "Metal Slug™2" as a base, variations have been greatly increased in the placement of enemies and weapons. In the end, can Marco and his gang avoid the second coup d'etat? Is Morden really alive? What is the secret to be feared of the rebellion forces?

This game is crazy fun. I have no idea why there aren't many 2D shooters for the PSP but 2D shooters on the PSP works very well for Sony's handheld. Why Sony of America hasn't released this gem in U.S. PSN is beyond me. All the menus and options are in english despite this game being a japanese version.

Emulation: Perfectly done. 2D sprites are colorful, sound is good, file size is kinda short and no issues whatsoever.

Graphics: Perfect 2D sprite based side scroller. SNK is known to make 2D games look good with very high quality. In my opinion, they do 2D graphics the best better than anyone. Animations are also very fluid.

Sound & Music: Very addicting and sounds very pulse intensive action. Love it.

Controls & Gameplay: Since there's no Contra games officially for the PSP, this will make up for it. There's 4 characters to choose to play as, has unlockables like mini missions, unlock arcade missions when you beat the game, and controls is tight. You can even control numerous vehicles throughout the level, rescue hostages and once you do, they'll either give you powerful weapons, bombs and more. The setting is amazing from the middle east, streets of Tokyo, moving trains, and more. Although the game is kinda on a short side, it doesn't mean you'll get bored of it quick.

Replay: Once you beat the game, you'll unlock mini missions, and you can even make the game more challenging if you wish to test your skills. Not an easy game since enemies will pop up all over the place, but the trick to this game is patterns just like Contra.

Lasting Appeal: One of my favorite downloads so far. Theres also Metal Slug Anthology on UMD for PSP which has Metal Slug 1-6 I believe for cheap now if you can find it, but me personally, Im more on games played from memory sticks. :smileywink:

Overall:9/10

Can't believe I missed this great thread, thanks Nov2rem.  Anyways, Metal Slug is such an addicting game lol, too bad it's not on the U.S market along with biohazard and RE2.  That would be great if we eventually see RE 1-3 in the American PSN market!

-Legend Of Dragoon please!

-Star Wars Episode 1 (so classic) please!

-Too many to list, nvm.

Yeah its an underated thread. Dont worry about Resident Evil 2. Its been confirmed to be released in North Americas PSN soon.

And for other people (you know who you are) that dont care about PSone games on PSP. I don't consider you a real gamer.

  1. I didn't know that, great news!  That would be nice if they can confirm the other 2 as well, and of course LOD.
  2. They are missing out on some legendary old school games :smileytongue:.
